Insomnia (Chronic) for Elderly

Patient Compensation: $450
Length of Study: 18 weeks
Number of Office Visits: 9
Criteria:
1) Are you between the ages of 65-85?

2) Do you get less than 6 hours of sleep per night at least 3 times a week for the last
month?
3) Is your normal bedtime between 9pm-midnight?
4) Have you ever taken Lunesta?
5) Are you currently taking thyroid or hormone therapy?
6) In the next 18 weeks are you planning on traveling to states/countries with a different
time zone?
7) Are you currently taking any sleep medications?
In the last 6 months have you had a history of drug or alcohol abuse?
9) Well participating in the study you are not able to consume alcohol. Is that a problem?

1) Yes

4) Never
5) If so, must be 60 days stable
6) No
7) If yes, must stop all 7 days prior to screening

Insomnia (Chronic) Switch

Patient Compensation: $300
Length of Study: 12 weeks
Number of Office Visits: 8
Criteria:
*Patient must be fluent in English (speaking, writing, and reading)*
1) Are you at least 18 years old?
2) Do you take Zolpidem (Ambien) for Insomnia?
3) Is your BMI between 18-34?
4) Every night do you go to bed between the hours of 9pm-1am?
5) Do you suffer from Sleep Apnea, Fibromyalgia, COPD, or Bi-Polar?
6) Are you currently pregnant or breastfeeding?
7) In the last 6 months have you had a history of drug or alcohol abuse?

Answers to qualify:
1) Yes
2) Yes (greater than 10mg at least 4 times per week)
3) Yes
4) Yes
5) No
6) No
7) No
